Second hand clothes stores

There are a number of second hand clothing stores within Christchurch, many of which offer to sell 'on behalf of' people. This means that the original seller and the shop owner will split the money taken on any item at an agreed ratio, usually 50/50. These stores are therefore not charity shops and are run as businesses.

Generally the quality of items in such stores is very good and clothing is likely to have been washed and pressed before being put on display. You are also more likely to find label clothing in this type of store, however it should be noted that the price of such items may be a little higher than your average charity shop, but still cheaper than buying the same thing brand new.

Dressed Up

The Dressing Room

Very well-stocked clothing shop, mainly catering for women but with some men's clothing too. Sells new and used label clothing ('on behalf of'), as well as accessories such as hats, bags and jewellery. Previously (pre-quakes) sold surplus items from Toffs on Gloucester Street at $2 a pop, but now (post-quakes) includes items that would have been sold in the city as well.
